A heartfelt thank-you to all the parents, speakers, agencies and community groups who share our Evening of Resilience on February 25th.  Nearly 200 people participated to hear the powerful messages of Jen Durst from Canadian Mental Health Association and Rebecca Fleisig, “the love teacher”. Principal Liz Arbuckle began the evening by sharing recent examples of students struggling with stress. Jen Durst outlined our community reality and provided signs and strategies.  Teacher Rebecca Fleisig reminded us of the power of listening to what our children say and looking “with both eyes”, the present and the person they will become. Treats were provided by Starbucks (Columbia St.), Goodness Me (Ira Needles) and Sobey’s (Columbia St.)  The following local organizations and businesses set up booths to share information on the services and support they provide our community:
• YMCA
• Come Alive Fitness/Massage Therapist
• Creative Therapy Health Services
• KW Counselling
• Canadian Mental Health Association
• Front Door
• Delton Glebe Counselling Centre
• Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention
• Young Carers Project (YCP)
• Waterloo Public Library
